Holier than Thou..
Tim Keller articulates very eloquently a subject that really bothers me: church people who act “holier than thou.” Those who have been in the church forever, or those very involved in church activities. Those who judge what people do, what they wear, who their friends are. Those who very outwardly express their faith for all to hear. I think we all know the type..
Well in the...

Thank You Lord
I find myself saying “thank you Lord” more and more.
I am favored. I am blessed. I am destined for greatness. I have a purpose.
I am just so grateful.
I see now that once you are doing God’s will, you can never be in darkness.
Your will be done.

And I paid for it dearly.
When I was younger, I did not grasp the truths God laid before me, because I chose to live life on my own. That was stupid, and if you want to throw arrogant into the mixture, go ahead.
I was so petrified of becoming a “Jesus-Freak” to my friends, that I missed out on…

Forgiveness
So I went to a youth meeting at my church last night, more expecting to socialize, less expecting to receive a word. But God works in all types of ways, and He sent me a message that I truly needed (and also refocused me).
The topic of the night was forgiveness. There was a discussion portion in which several questions were answered, such as:
What do you think forgiveness is?
What if someone...

It gets hard..
It’s hard not to look at my past and get really upset.
I get upset about missed opportunities. All the conversations I could have had with truly inspiring people. All the deep talks and fellowship I missed out on because I’d rather go party or shop. All the times I could have helped people in need but I was too blindly focused on what I needed.
I get upset about friendships I...

Jesus, My Role Model
In today’s society, we are quick to make people our role models. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, it gives people something to strive towards, and also gives people reason to live a moral life.
That being said, we are human. Mistakes are inevitable. Hence why Jesus is the only “man” I will idolize. I came to this conclusion recently when I was pushed to my breaking...

Progress
I’m growing. I know it.
Things that would have made my world collapse before …they just get an “it is well” response now.
I know who my best friend is. My soul mate. The one who I can always count on. When everyone else goes to bed, He stays up with me. When no one wants to hear me ramble, He listens. He even gives good advice. :)
As long as I have Him, I have a reason...

Had to go to a funeral yesterday, and the person’s life we were celebrating, evidently did not create much joy. I didn’t see one smile in the joint. I felt like standing-up and making everyone say “ha-ha” three times.

Successful Christians
I love to see successful Christians. And you should too.
No, God did not put us here to live self absorbed, flashy lives. But he also did not put us here to suffer. We work hard to one day attain a certain level of comfort to live pleasant lives. In turn, we give back to others in need.
IF CHRISTIANS DON’T HAVE THIS WEALTH, THEN WHO?!

1) Gossip: Maybe it’s just the Christian girls I know, but they seem to be the worst about gossiping about other girls. I think when Paul said in Ephesians “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to…

Either You Fear Man or You Fear God.
I learned an important thing in church this Easter Sunday. Another one of those sayings that we probably hear all the time, but never really think about how we apply it in our lives.
Fear God, Not Man
As the Pastor went through this topic, I found myself relating to everything he said. For instance, he talked about being tempted. He said when this happens people usually worry about what this...

Good Friday.
I don’t really have one specific topic to write about, however I feel moved to write something. After being in church tonight, and praying that the Lord comes into my midst, I believe he has answered. I feel touched.
On this day where we remember the ultimate sacrifice by Jesus for us, I am filled with all sorts of emotions: sadness, motivation, excitement, etc. etc. Lord you are truly too...

notesofapastor:
Then, you have GOT to have a good talk with God.
Living in the past especially if things have habitually gone wrong will always produce emotional pain. It will also produce fear of the future.
If you believe in Jesus, the power of sin over your life has been broken. Your record has been wiped…
Amen.

Seasons
I have some really good days. So good that I almost forget part of life are bad days. I am slightly OCD, so I have a set schedule for myself, but also a set way I believe my life should go. So when unexpected annoyances, disappointments, etc., come along, I get so frazzled.
A part of being a Christian, I think, is trusting in God’s timing. There is a time and season for everything. God...

Deeper Friendship with God
“1. I must choose to be honest with God.” - Rick Warren
This is the sort of thing you know sounds right, but never really practice. At least I don’t. I sugarcoat things when I talk to God. I try and make it sound better. I even try to make excuses for myself. I don’t think I can take my friendship with God to another level when I can’t share the most intimate things...

Come and See (E wa wo)
“Come and see, come and see
Come and see what the Lord has done
E wa wo, E wa wo
E wa wo t’Olugbala se”
Time and time again, God has shown up. It might be in the “darkest hour” but he comes. I’ve seen it in my life time and time again (like right now =]). I am a living testimony.

Selflessness
Recently, I have been thinking about the topic of selflessness. I am very giving, and thoughtful, especially (or maybe only) to people I care about the most. I don’t really think about it, I just know or see something that may benefit someone and share it. The thought came to me as I realized I am often not appreciated for this. No, I don’t do it to be recognized, on the contrary it is...

Sorry, maybe it’s just me, but I cannot understand how people can try and say that they are a Christian but yet adamantly separate it from every part of their life. Being a Christian is not just a Sunday morning activity! I’m not saying we should all be perfect, God knows I am not, however if you have the opportunity to be on a big stage, as Elisabeth Hasselbeck, you should use it...
